0.8 Hz of triangle, square wave is the input to the DSO(TDS1002B) from the signal generator.

Output resembles square wave, spikes with same input frequency.

What is the problem ?

Note: For high frequencies output is equal to the input. (No problem)

1) Which is it, triangle or square wave input?
2) Which is it, square wave or spikes on the output?

You want DC coupling, not AC.

Input is 0.5 Hz triangle wave (2v p-p).

Output is approximately 0.5 Hz square wave on DSO (300mV p-p).

If the input is 0.5 Hz square wave (2V p-p).

Output is spike with frequency 0.5 Hz (300mV p-p).

You have been told the answer already. You are using AC coupling but for low frequencies like that you must use DC coupling. It should be an adjustment on the scope controls.

Brian.
