different MCU architectures available in market today ?

What are the main different microcontroller architectures available in the market today ? (please explain terms like arm, avr,8051 etc. )

what's the difference between those ?

which one do you thing is the best architecture and why ?

thanks in advance.
 

i guess the different is the architecture RISC some are implement in CISC another is either 8bit, 16,or 32 bit mcu, also the amount of ram, rom flash on the mcu
