I have some questions about the LED drivers

Why there some chips that we called "LED drivers"?

Wht is the special features they got in general from the others?

As sometimes we can simple using MOSFETs or transistors to compose a driving circuits

Any advantages or drawback for both of them?

Thanks

The LED drivers are nothing more than PWM voltage regulators that put out a constant current value because the best way to run an LED is via currnet control. That way you dont get variations in the light output which to consumers is bad.

Try driving a LED via voltage control method and watch as the LED tends to flicker or get brighter and then dimmer.
