where can i get the details about the difference in full custom flow and place and route flow.

thanks in advance.

recommend books for you:
"art of analog layout"
"layout mask"
"IC Layout Basics A Practical Guide"
"Full-Custom IC Design Flow for PC"

you may find the solution from them.
God bless you.

Best Reguards.

Re: difference betwn full custom flow and auto place and rou

full custom ic designing is used when u want to design it from the scratch and by urself, also no cells are available to u.

on the other hand if already have cell lib tha u may use auto place and route tool to complete ur design

in full custom flow, its easier to do routing. whereas in the case of auto p&r, its tough to work around the tools limitations and get an optimized result

in auto p&r flow, you care much less than full-custom flow, such as gate-size, driving ability, noise, interconnect...
depends on your product or your company work flow, you choose whether auto or full-custom flow.

Re: difference betwn full custom flow and auto place and rou

you need know aware that:
Custom Flow is part of Analog flow
Place n Route (PNR) is part of Digital Flow:

in Digital Flow:
Front End is: hdl writing & synthesis
Back End is: floorplaning & place & route

In Analog Flow:
Front End is: schematic entry(drawing)
Back End is: custom layout

The full custom flow is The Analog Flow, which includes schematic drawing & custom layout. :)
