Dear Udit

CDMA is an abbreviation of Code Division Multiple Access
WCDMA is an abbreviation of Wideband Code Division Multiple Access

CDMA is the technology spread more in USA,as it is an american standard, has many generations such as CDMA-IS95A,CDMA-IS95B,CDMA 2000,CDMA-1xEVDO ,CDMA-1xEVDV
WCDMA is the air interface of UMTS which is the 3G of the european standard GSM

The chip rate at CDMA is 1.2288 Mchip per second
The chip rate at WCDMA is 3.84 Mchip per second

The bandwidth of the CDMA is 1.25 MHz
The bandwidth of the WCDMA is 5 MHz,that's why it is called wideband as it has more bandwidth than CDMA

Also there is difference at the channels at both of them

Best Regards

Hello Folks
If you are asking about standards effectively there are much differences between the two standards WCDMA and CDMA, please refer to the referent standardization body for references.
But the theory is the same CDMA based on code division multiple access

simply WCDMA is the developed version of CDMA in order to be compatible with the requirements of the 3G system (UMTS) the requirements are as follow:

1- wide bandwidth==> increase the spreading bandwidth( 5MHZ) and increase the chip rate ( 3.84 chip per sec)

2-variable bit rate support==>use OVSF code instead of walsh code

and other changes in the air-interface to support packet data and high bit rate.

for further information see WCDMA for UMTS by holma

i wish i helped you

They have the same way in multiplexing (code division)
But the WCDMA one have a bigger frequency (5MHz) compare to CDMA (1,25MHz)
About data rate, WCDMA ofcourse will sent data packet faster

Actually CDMA is 2G and WCDMA is 3G
Little help 4 u guys.

Best REgards,

differences are discussed here with block diagram . may be helpful to you ...
