ir-dropt analysis saif

Hi all

actually i m trying to do the IR Drop analysis.
the static analysis was done with AstroRail and i used the saif file.
now i m trying to start the dynamic IR Drop analysis with the PrimePower, in some topics i read that the saif file is for the static analysis and the vcd is for the dynamic.
i wana know what is the difference and why using vcd for dynamic analysis.

Thanks in advance.

In short,
- SAIF file contains "average" switching activity.

- VCD file records switching activities along the time axis.

thanx joe2moon,

but there is any other diffrences??

i know that we can convert vcd file into saif fail with vcd2saif commande.

so the size is reduced, maybe the saif file do not contain all information like the vcd file????

thx for clarification.
