difference rom and prom

other then this that ROM and PROM are one time programmable.

ROM is programmed at the time of fabrication and PROM can be programmed by user using some PROM programming circuits. other then this on application uses bases please comment on diffrence between these devices.

I do not think there are some other differences

PROM's cost more, so are used in small volume manufacturing or in testing stages, on data that will rarely change.

Hi Friend,

PROM is programmable ROM that can be programmed by the user i.e., the programmer.

ROM can only be programmed by the manufacturer and it cannot be modified or altered.

These ROMs are used in specific applications where the order is placed to the manufacturer along with the necessary specifications of the project or application.

Avinash.S.

Hellow friend,
we can in programme into PROM as we like.we can not in programme into ROM.PROMs are clled ROM
when it is programmed

apart from the difference you mentioned, there is no operational difference.
