Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong forum. I couldn't quite figure out where this topic should fit. Please feel free to move this to the correct place.

I'm working with a data acquisition board that uses a TI DAC5688. It has a max DAC speed of 800 MSPS, but max input rate of 250 MSPS, the latter of which is the speed at which the data I give it is processed.

I'm a little confused by the 800 MSPS spec. Does this specify that that analog output updates at 800 MSPS? Or should I be able to have it output my digital data as an analog signal at 800 MSPS?

Here is the manual for reference:
Data Converters - Communication Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) - DAC5688 - TI.com

Thanks!
