Hello Members,

I would like to design a simple loop antenna resonating at 1 GHz (GSM band) in CST MWS. Then connect the terminals of the antenna to a LED and a Germanium Diode as shown below.

I wanted to confirm whether its possible to see the effects of LED glowing when the antenna is excited in CST MWS ? And what about parameters definition of "0a91 Germanium diode" in CST?

Awaiting replies,
Regards

I have designed the structure in CST MWS...But how and where should I excite the antenna? and how to define the parameters of LED and Diode?

I think you are going to find you need something like a 20 watt transmitter to get those diodes to actually glow.
for smaller fields, like 1-5 watts, a simple neon tube might work better (does not need that much current to start to glow).

but for simple detectors...you would need something that detected the power, amplified the detected signal, and THEN drove an LED. something like a LogAmp from analog devices, etc.

@biff44 Thankyou for the reply.
Apart form the simulation, I also did the implementation practically by taking a copper wire of 1 wavelength and connecting it to relevant LED and Diode. But nothing happened when I brought a cell phone close to it..
Am I doing something wrong or the dimensions of copper wire also matters?
