Hi all,

I have a little question, if it is basic I'm sorry. I'm planning to use CREE C2M1000170D in my converter with the stress around 1400V-1500V and with 4.5A
But the datasheet made me confused, it says continuous drain current is 4.9A and then pulsed drain current is again 5A referring to the Figure 16 (SOA) in datasheet. I'd like to use this device with 1kHz and duty cycle is max 20-30% which makes 200-300 uS.
The converter will be flyback (discontinuous conduction mode) so the current is just a ramp with the peak amplitude of 4.5A max.

Do you think is it fine to use ? I'm confused because of the Fig 16 given..

Thanks in advance.
