count up or down with 16f877 and sevensegment display

anyone with a good idea cicuits and explanation on how to implement a count up or down with pic.

scope.
1. to load a set of numbers on the sevensegment display and have the micro to count down zero as you continously press a switch and when the counter is zero to light an LED

2. to have the micro countup to a preset value as you continously press a switch
