how does increasing the contacts reduces resistance??

In a first approximation, contact-resistance is in inverse proportion to the contact-area.

If you increase the number of contacts in metal wire it will creates the parallel connection then resistance becomes low.
Because using resistors in Parallel connection it will reduces the Resistance That's all.
