matrix keyboards

Hello,

Does anyone got experience in connecting 2 pieces of a 4x4 Matrix keyboard in parallel
without any other interface? Is there a limitation in the distances of the cables?
Any information concerning this matters is very welcome.
I want to connect two of these to an alarm system.

connect two 4x4

Hi,

this is no problem on the table, but for long distances not recommended.I think You can try with a good screened 10m cable.

I agree with Sebi, A big distance wouldn't be a great idea.
For sure the paralleling can be done although the pressing on both keyboards will give you an indication as if you have pressed 2 keys on one keyboard mixing up things a little bit.
Good debouncing and solving of such problems must be done carefully.
