Hi,
I have just bought a 12v 775 DC Motor and am trying to power it using the mains electricity. ( I am in the UK where mains is 230v AC.) I have bought a 12v 1a dc power supply and am wondering if I can just connect it to the power supply ( with the wires stripped) or if there is another way I need to do it.

There are many versions of '775' motor but most seem to need around 80W of power and quote over 4A starting current. The current required is (W/V = I) 80/12 = 6.6 Amps although that would be under maximum load. It will probably start with power from your 1A supply but the torque will be low and if your power supply has overload protection it may simply cut out. You really need a much more robust power supply, ideally one rated at say 10A to give a good safety margin. Also remember that if you have a switch in line with the power feed it needs similar ratings.

Brian.

Hi,

That´s what datasheets are for.

Without having a link to the exact datasheet ... a discussion is useless.
