Confused on how to put together my project.

Hi -

I have used this site as a reader for the past couple of months, but not as a poster. Anyway, I have a project (yes for school), that I'm a little confused on and would like a little advice. Between old labs that I've already completed, I have covered counters and ALUs. The professor gave us some RS232 code. I am just really confused as to how I put it all together in Xilinx ISE.

Any direction is appreciated...not looking for anyone to do my work for me

Not quite sure what the problem is, but since you mention rs232 ...

Check out this uart module on fpga4fun. It's explained pretty well, and more importantly, it actually worked the first time around! Just change clock frequency and baud rate parameters and you are good to go!

Thanks for the info; that's a very good site! I don't think it's really what I'm looking for, but good reference anyway...the search/research continues
 

you have to study about 'component' if you are using vhdl..
