Hi cr@ckintosh,

surely you are looking for a syllabic compressor/expander (not a digital coder).
If so, look for data sheets, application notes, etc of compandors (NE571, NE572 or others).

More specifically, are you looking for

a-law, mu-law, adpcm, celp, etc?
Are your in/out signals in the digital or analog domain?
