Compatible with X9C103 only with 8 bits (256 steps)

Personal,

I have a little project that I'm using the X9C103 digital potentiometer but it only has 7 bits, 127 steps, does anyone know any other that has 8 bits, 256 steps and is simple like it, only with the UP / Down pin (barred) and Inc ?

Hi,

What I'd do: Doing search at
* the X9C103 manufacturer
* other dig pot manufacturer
* distributors
...

But before this ... I'd analyze the according circuit ... to calculate what range and resolution one needs.
I'm not the friend of trial and error...I want to know where to go ... not blindly.
