Does anyone examine these softwares?
pls say your experiences about these synthesis tools. What tools is better?

Xilinx XST - Mentor Graphics LeonardoSpectrum - Synplif Pro

synplify is a good choice.

synplify is my favorate.

I have used they all three tools
I prefer synplify which is easy to use and of good performance .

uhh

synplify pro is my favorite

But i have a problem with it. It cannot compile code with "REAL/REAL" statement in it .
Also it cannot compile code with "WHILE LOOP" int it.
How you solve these problems?

I guess these keywords are not synthesisable at all with any other tools...

Synplify is better because the synthesis speed and result.

Few man use XST, pepole always use dedicated FPGA/CPLD synthesis

tool, because their better QoR.

You can't say Synplify's good. But you must admit Amplify's good, as well as Certify and Identify.

That's why I prefer Synplicity.

Synplify is the best choice, however you can pass some "constraints" attributes more easily in XST. Still Synplify is the best choise , LS in the other hand is very hard to handle and needs special attentions when you write the code.

Yes, other EDA companys don't have corresponding tools as Certify and

Ientify.

Certify is very useful when we prototype a big Gatecount chip. And

Identify is very useful for debug.

How i can say sysgen to use Synplify instead of xilinx XST?

synplify the best for fpga and dc for asic..thats my opinion...

I will vote to synplify pro. It's very fast and user friendly.
Easy to use!

I thanks from your opinion, But i want to know how i can use sinplify pro in sysgen?

Please be specific why you prefer Synplify over XST or others.

PAR algorithms and tools are vendor specific hence no matter what you use for synthesis you need to get your hands on the vendor supplied PAR because nobody knows the chip better than the OEM silicon company i.e., Xilinx e.g.

delay (delayed by technology)

Although the OEM is best to know the Silicon they made, but it seems that they don' have expertise in doing a good synthesis tool for this Silicon, I agree they know what they did but they don't know how to make a good synthesis tool, for example XST can not synthesis all the VHDL code even if it is at gate level, some experssions are not handled right in XST. On the other side the other synthesis tools are made with more professional talented people, so you can write your code without worring of synthesis problems and even if your code is at RTL level you are not of much worry because these synthesis tools have good optimization algorithms and RTL recogntion is easy

Exactly bibo, I have faced issues in XST..even a simple change of logic in a bigger RTL, doesnt give a justified synthesis, but Synplify and Leonardo does it smoothly. For our Complex SoC design, we use Synplify Pro for synthesis, Xilinx for PAR n Primetime for STA..

I like Synplify for that it shows the pictures of RTL
better than another tools show.
Therefore it is very useful for students.
Comparing another features - it depends..
Some constructs Synplify synthesises better,
some ones Leonardo does.
Synplify synthesises signed multipliers not very well.
Leonardo synthesizes more VHDL constructs than Synplify does.
XST synthesises worse but it improves itself with
each next version,
it allways recognizes and uses best features of Xilinx FPGA,
for example, when needed SRL then in puts SRL.

Sometimes Xst may be better I think.
