bq3287

Hello. I'm trying to communicate with the BQ3287 real time clock using a MC68HC908GP32 motorolla microcontroller. I'm trying to do it using the datasheet time constrains it provides but i get no response. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
I connect the adrress pins directly to a port and the four control line signals to another port.
Can someone send me some code(preferably in assembly) and maybe a connection schematic.
I can't understand the multiplexed bus that is stated in the datasheet and whether i can communicate without another ic.

Thank you very much in advance.
