Clock with NIXIE tubes – ow design

Parameters:
  • four Z566M tubes controlled by the multiplex
  • controller PIC 16F876A
  • possibility to connect DCF module
  • partial implementation SMD on bilateral PCB
  • 9-12VDC power supply
Firstly, on a test board 9VDC/170VDC converter was built to test the schema and tubes. The converter run properly.
Bilateral board with dimensions of 149.8mm x 61.9mm was made.



The system has brought out four controller ports for additional options and an interface for receiver DCF77 with 3,3V power supply. Bases for tubes are pins extracted from the sockets of type D-SUB. There are buttons to set hours connected on two ports. The program was written in C. The sequence was performed on the system 74141 and four opto-couplers TLP127. The voltage converter on NE555 and IRF740 with a vertical reactor 100uH. The stability of timing does not differ from other clock with quartz stabilization. Lamp brightness is satisfactory – the clock is readable indoors, even from a distance of several meters.
