battery characteristics

Hi,

Does the internal resistance of the battery vary while charging?

If it varies then what about the charing current?

Thanks
Alex

I'm not an expert on this, but in general, no.
However, the internal resistance of a battery slowly increases over the life of the battery.

One exception might be, for instance, a lead acid battery where a couple of plates (in one cell) short together near the end of the battery life. In this case, the internal resistance will decrease, but you are also dealing with one less cell, so there is a big voltage drop.

However, the plates shorting together could come during charging, discharging, or durin your coffee break.

The internal resistance is on of the critical characteristic of the battery.

It is very important if your device consums over 1C and more.

The bigger the resistance the battery is not good.

:p
