What do you mean by "Channel is linear"?
I mean when do you say a channel is linear?

I read "The signal transmitter through the channel is disturbed by white Gaussian noise process. The reasons for this assumption is that it makes the calculations tractable".

What do mean by "it makes the calculation tractable"? How do you say Gaussian noise process makes the calculation tractable?
