channel length

"Channel Length Modulation" - Decreases the effective channel length in a MOS. Still current flows.. Why??

ie. there is a region under the gate where there is no channel. but still the charges flow from drain to source.. Why??

well it is due to very high electric field and the term swept away is used to describe that still there is flow of electrons

It's due to the high electric field, it makes the electrons to "jump" to the other contact even without a channel

because the field is still large there and thus causes the electrons to flow
