Hi,

Can anybody explain the difference between chain patterns and Logical Patterns.

My doubt is that what ever the patterns, we generated from ATPG are all Chain patterns(because the patterns are generated through scan chains),then where the logical patterns comes into the picture?

Thanks,
yuga

Hello,

Chain pattern is just to check the chain integrity. It checks that shifting-in and shifting-out is properly working or not.
Logic patterns is using the capture cycle, so combo logic in between 2 flops are also part of the patterns as we capturing from the functional D input.

Hi Maulin,
But my question is what ever we generated the patterns through ATPG, are they logical or chain patterns???

In tmax, 1st pattern is always chain pattern. All other patterns are logic patterns.

So mostly, 1st pattern is always chain pattern. But it depends on the tool which you use.

okay fine but what are the causes of failing the chain patterns and how you are going to fix to pass the chain patterns.
