Hi,

Version 3.190 from PCWH CCS C compiler is stated as baseline Release.

What is the meaning of BaseLine Release ?

I think it means that it will become the "stable" version for the next while just like version 3.148 was the most "stable" up to now.

Update: Here's what someone posted in the compiler forum at CCS

What is a baseline release? If i remember correctly from big team software engineering jargon, a baseline seems to be where they declare a certain version as the foundation and stable version. (Anything new would be bug fixes I guess.) But then again, this compiler is always evolving, whether it be due to new driver libraries, new part support, bug fixes, or changes in response to Microchip erratas. I guess it's a good thing, compared to compilers who only come out with one release all year. Since they don't offer much in terms of peripheral drivers, then not much need to change much through the year i guess.

I think they mean that this is not a beta version.
It seems like CCS uses all the customers as beta testers.
Sometimes they release up to three new version in the same week!!!
There are lot of errors in the CCS compilers that are corrected on a daily or weekly basis.
They don't say that the new versions are beta versions but it seems that way.

Maybe they have tested version 3.190 before they released it.

Yah, CCS compiler is never stable for long, before someone discovers new bugs!!

But overall rating, I would still give it four stars . It is quite easy to use :)

I agree, it's very easy to use and you won't experience most of the bugs.
