Hey Users,

It seems that the cascode PA topology allows to double the nominal drain supply voltage that a single transistor can handle.

Does anyone of you know ?

Thanks

If you presume that the safe Vdd level will be limited by maximum Vdg rather than Vds, then a cascode amplifier allows higher Vdd values, because the gate doesn't swing against drain node. That's not the strong effect discussed in the otherwise quoted "self-balancing cascode" papers, but still valuable.

But I don't see that the Vdd factor two stated in the text is supported by the comparative tables.
