Carrier help in physical design

sir,
I want to learn digital layout designing..

I got a seat in postgraduate diploma in physical design.The course being sponsored to me by Vedaiit,Hyderabad.where in I have to sign a bond for 3years to work for soctronics which is AMD's client.

I don't know much about chip designing except the basic circuits that I studied during my Engineering.

How can I start to study sir?? what you you will suggest me to learn? should I take any course??
