Dear All resspected,

Kindly suggest me what resistance would be require across in all carbon keys and carbon jumper for best operating in IR remote for Set Top box .

Regards

if you are trying to repair a membrane type switch on a remote control, try just cleaning the contact pads on the PCB with methylated spirits or petrol or some other switch cleaner, they seem to get a thin layer of non-conducting black stuff on them. Anything less then 10M ohms.

A new carbon film pad is 10-100 . An old one pressed too hard, too many times may be intermittent open. Wd40 has low residue and is good for metal switches, but I'm not sure about carbon. Alcohol tends to have a residue in cheap isopropal stuff, but may work , but if thin film carbon is displaced... Then it has reached EOL.
