Hello guys. First time poster on here. I want to program some new key fobs to my car's remote central locking. The problem is all keys have a 4 digit code that I don't have. the only way to unlock the remote central locking receiver for programming new keys is to use a 4 digit code from a key fob already linked to the receiver. Now I know there's a way to get the stored codes from the receiver, but I don't know where to start. My car is an Alfa Romeo 146. I need to identify which chip has the stored data I need to dump. I don't own a programmer so I'll need to purchase one, but which? Please help. I love tinkering with electronics and really want to get stuck in.
Believe me, this is bad idea. You don't know where this keys located in memory. And no one will tell you that.
But if you really wanna try - look for EEPROM chip onboard. Should be something like a 95xxx or 24xxx in SO8 package.

hello, thank you for replying to me I understand what you're saying, but people have done this before but are keeping it to them selfs. I think i have located the chip you speak of on the PCB a soc8 made by Microchip 93lc46b
