is it possible to detect the electrical signals generated by our brains. Like if we use those signals to actuate a device or a relay. We can make devices work simply by thinking. Is it possible on a lower level. I am just a bacholar student. And i am thinking about it as my Final year project.

Study of brain's electrical activity is called Electroencephalograpy- EEG. A typical adult human EEG signal is about 10µV to 100 µV in amplitude when measured from the scalp [10] and is about 10–20 mV when measured from subdural electrodes (Reference from Electroencephalography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
My understanding is, we would be able to record activity of brain. But it is complicated to analyse and process this signal. I am not sure weather this project could be realistically demonstrated at under graduation. Referring research papers in this area would be helpful to get idea, about feasibility.
