Hi,

I am trying to design a water level detection system using an ultrasonic sensor. Can this work using an ultrasonic sensor ??

I have also noticed a 'ping' transmitter/receiver in the polulu site, is this suitable for my application ??

I have identified some models from adafruit industries..

1. https://www.adafruit.com/products/984
2. This looks suitable for a 1000 litre water tank, https://www.adafruit.com/products/172

Please also suggest any other suitable sensor for the above application, I am hoping this sensor would be easily available in India either through RS, element14, sparkfun, adafruit or polulu..

Please advise if the above listed options would be suitable for my application.

Kindly also explain the principle of the method, as I am a novice in ultrasound.

thanks

you have to basically measure distance from top of tank to the water level.

Can ultrasonic waves be reflected by the surface of the water ?, or do I have to place a floating object for reflection ??
