[SOLVED] can i program 8951 by usin usb avr programmer

Hai experts
i bought a Usb programmer from technido fischl.de - USBasp - USB programmer for Atmel AVR controllers
can i program 89s51 by using this AVR Usb programmer
please replay

You can only program 89c51 if that programmer and software support 89c51 programming. Check the supported ICs list. (89C51 need parallel programmer.)

YES. It all depends on the firmware in your programmer. If the firmware is the version that supports 89S51/89S52 then it will work. If not, you can load the firmware in the atmega8(on the programmer) yourself.

try to program your 89S51. If it doesn't work, you need this firmware:
https://www.8051projects.info/files/blog-files/2009/10/usb51.zip
the above firmware will work for both avr & 89S51.
