CAN ATMEGA8 CRYSTAL PINS used as I/O ?

CAN ATMEGA8 or any other mcu's CRYSTAL PINS used as I/O ? as they are at 6th AND 7th bit of PORTB in atmega8 ?
Can I use then as out pins also ?

There are things called datasheets that tell you what you need to know. Why don't you read it, or do you need someone to read it to you?

A Communmity is poor to use, If I read only answers like "look into the Datasheet" .

Oh you think you're entitled to an answer? Hey I don't get paid to answer yours or anyone elses questions. I certainly don't give answers to people that won't even make the effort to read the datasheet. It was easy to find the answer, way too easy, ergo you never even looked.

It's nice, If only people answer to a question, If they can say something to the problem, look into the Datasheet isn't what he can need...maybe..I#m sure, thjat he know, that he can find it in the datasheet!

I second ads-se. It is engineering 101, look at the datasheet before you do anything with the said device. If you don't understand a certain section of the datasheet? or it doesn't do what it says, then ask. Get the Atmega8 datasheet and look at the section called pin description, it summaries how you can play with each and every pins. Another thing is, different manufacturers tend to split the functionality in different ways, only way to tell if one particular MCU can support a particular configuration is to look at it's datasheet. Even single MCU can have different pin functionality for different package type so datasheet is the only way to confirm it. Good luck.

In so far Mr. Big is right. But the OP is asking about "ATMEGA8 or any other mcu's CRYSTAl PINS". And in this case, it's right to say, only the specific datasheet can give you the answer.

ATmega and many other µCs can run from internal oscillators and have the external crystal oscillator pins as alternate function of GPIO pins. Means the GPIO has full input and output capabilities if not used for a crystal oscillator. The same applies to many other µCs but not all. Thus: read the datasheet.
