prBoundary

what is a prBoundary

The prBoundary layer indicates the cell's edges (or boundaries). It is not a physical layer and it is used - for example - for tiling cells together.

But Analog cells are never abutted together .then why do we pur a prBoundary over its extent?

Analog cells' prBoundary should overlap the outermost guardRing by (at least) half of the spacing rule. In such case, all cells can be abutted.

pr=place&route. used by cadence chip assembly router. anything in prBoundary will be routed by CCAR.

Well analog cells would be definitely used as macros at the top level.. prBoundary defines the boundary for the cell/macro.

The "prBoundary" layer is recognized as the boundary for the cell. Some layers (PP,NP & NWELL) may go beyound the cell boundary as they are all can be merged with other cells. So prBoundary layer is called cell boundary layer.
