I think my question is very elementary! I'm confused!
What if i have 12V 2A Power Supply, i will connect it to a relay, gadgets with a current rating of 1 Ampere?

Is there a effect on the gadget/relay?

yes in burnt form it can

relay has some fixed power ratings which are not really flexible if power dissipated about them is fraction higher they get toasted

i don't think they are helpful in your application

If you are feeding some power through a set of relay contacts, the contacts will burn up ONLY if the load takes more then the contact ratings rating. It does not matter what current the power supply could supply.
