hello,
i have the followin error during installing IC5.1 on fedora core 4

Specify path of install directory \c
[OR type [RETURN] to exit]: \c
/usr/local/cdstree

Setting up softload for lnx86 in /usr/local/cdstree
\c

The following tar errors were detected:
\c
/bin/tar: -b1: Not found in archive
/bin/tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

You must have write permissions to install directory \c

and atleast 10 MB available disk \c
space in install directory.
\c

Specify path of install directory \c

[OR type [RETURN] to exit]: \c

so what shall i do?

libxp.so.6 cadence

Hi,

If you want to install in /c, follow any one of the below.

1. install in /c from superuser login
2. change the permissions of the /c directory

or

install in a new directory in your login eg: /home/abc/IC5.1 (abc is the login name)

i am trying to install from root , the tools are at /TOOLS ,
thnx alot

lp: unable to print file: client-error-not-found

This is due to "tar" program too new. Downgrade it to version 1.14 will solve the problem.

cadence setup plotter

How to downdrade tar program?

cadence plotter printer setup

Try removing it using rpm and installing the tar rpm from FC2.

libxp.so.6: cadence

After downgrade my tar program,
rpm -ivh tar-1.13.25-12.i386.rpm --force
I complete ic5141 installation.

But when I keyin icfb &, a error message displayed:
error while loading shared libraries:libXp.so.6:cannot open shared object file:no such file or directory

Added after 3 hours 13 minutes:

ic5141 works after I add XWindow packages.

hello,
i am not sure but try installing this package from FC3 CD#2
"xorg-x11-deprecated….. .rpm"

install plotter in cadence

Installing as root may create some problems. Instead, install first softload cadence hierarchy and then run softload from this hierarchy ( e.g. <Cadence_Root/install/bin.lnx86) as user not superuser. Otherwise some permission problems occur..
For instance create a directory under root dir and give all permission of this directory to private user and group.

libxp.so.6 cadence shared library

If it's a shared library problem it doesn't matter what user you run it as. It's a system problem.

tar-1.13.25 fedora
