Cadence generic design kit

Hi,

Can anybody tell the difference between cadence generic design kit and any real design kit. Why we can't manufacture real IC's on cadence generic design kit.
 
I think C@dence's generic design kits are intended for EDA education and training at high schools and universities -- which also receive the necessary EDA suite licenses -- in order to get accustomed to their design tools, a while before they can use those tools with "real" foundry design kits in an industrial environment.
