Hi all
I want to run LVS through calibre tab in cadence environment. But I cannot do it because calibre needs the schematic view of my design and I don’t have the schematic view.
Could anybody help me to solve this problem ( i mean running lvs without schematic view)?
Best Regards

Re: Cadence &Calibre

If you don't have a schematic view, with which other view would you want to compare?

Re: Cadence &Calibre

Hi
I know that LVS compares Layout versus Schematic.
But I have a .GDSII file of a digital circuit that got it from SOC Encounter.
I see my Layout after importing in cadence and now i wanna to run DRC and LVS in calibre tab in cadence environment.
I search a lot about this and i found that this is possible,in fact with .Cdl file it is possible. But i don't know how i can do this.

In this case running an LVS doesn't make much sense, IMHO: Of course you could automatically generate a (rather unclearly arranged) schematic from the layout data base, but it would be correct by software, so the LVS would pass anyway.

The meaning of LVS is to verify that you created a correct layout from a schematic, which - in most cases - isn't possible to be run automatically for analog or mixed mode designs.

The other way round - creating a schematic from a layout - can be run automatically, so an LVS is redundant, I think.

DRC, however, is always necessary.

could you please explain me how i can generate a schematic from the layout?
Depends on your Cādence version. If I remember well, in the IC 5.1.41 version - in the layout menu - there was a command Create ... File ... from File.

Also, custom SKILL tools were available, see the foll. PDF:
