hi all,

i have completed the ICD2 , after a long days i have been suceeded!!!. like some ICD2 Clones are Unstable while Detcting with Windows , we can use a manual reset switch to MCLR of PIC18F4550, while connecting to USB of PC hold the Reset button and Connect and release the Reset button after 2 seconds after connecting. the USB Device Sounds 'DING' and installed , while Disconnecting the ICD2 by pressing the reset button the windows releases the ICD2 and you can safely detach the Device from PC

mplab icd2 for16f877

Hi to all,
this is my first post on this forum . I have build stolz's icd2 clone. When I downloaded the OS and as target device connected 16F872, mplab couldn't recognize it:

Connecting to MPLAB ICD 2
...Connected
Setting Vdd source to target
ICDWarn0020: Invalid target device id (expected=0x47, read=0x0)
...Reading ICD Product ID
Running ICD Self Test
...Passed
MPLAB ICD 2 Ready

I have checked all voltages and the hardware. I'm using 16f876-SO and mplab 7.40. The only thing i can do in mplab is releasing and holding in reset. Can someone help me ?

i have also crossed this problem , i override it by using a small cable ie 10 cm or less from the ICD2 to TARGET Board try this...

check the target device in your mplab and ensure that's the same as physical one!

Hoi,
I have sometimes de same problems now. I have solved it.
Keep the connection cable between the ICD and the target so short as possible.
I have place a cap (1000p) between pin 2 and 6 of de ICD on the target site.
I have disconnect pin B3 (target pic).

After a lot of test its still ok.

If your working with 5V powered targets you can skip the LM7805, it can generate >12V VPP with the ST232 (MAX232)

Hi, This is for 'Habas'
If u r using a 16F seriees pic then select another device from 18F series. Then MPLAB will satrt to download new operating system. After the ICD is ready re-select your original device and try again. Then MPLAB will again download another operating System. Then ur target will be detected.
