This is regarding the switching buck regulator design. If we try to generate very less output voltage from very high input voltage (In Our case 1.2V from 12V Input using Buck).What are the consequences we can face may be w.r.t to efficiency or emissions,Stability and Load regulation.
As far as i know to generate very less voltage we need the Pulse width is very less(Switch mostly MOSFET will conduct very less time).ON time will be very less.
Hi,
The problem with going to very low duty cycle on buck converter is that, the lower the duty cycle goes, the higher the peak current stress on the switch.
The higher peak current problem can be overcome to a limit using higher frequency. but frequency cannot be pushed very high due to many reasons. It would be better to use an LDO after the buck converter at very low voltages.
in my opinion. for the efficiency, when you use synchronous mosfet, you need a much bigger low-side mosfet, or the efficiency will be low;
if you use the peak-current mode, u need a blanking time, so that means the frequency can't high enough.
