im new using hfss.i always get boundary ovelapping when i assign radiation baoundary for air as subsrate.i hope anybody can help me. my email address is alan6449@yahoo.com

Re: Boundary overlapping

did you define a vacuum box that encloses your microstrip structure. Define a radiation boundry on all faces of the box except the bottom one. define the bottom face as Perfect E plane and also select the infinite ground plane option available.

Also check whether there is a intersection of vacuum box and substrate box.

Boundary overlapping

YOU SHOULD KNOW THE GLOBAL STANDARDS FOR THE GUARD BAND
THANKS

Boundary overlapping

tq..i already solve the problem on boundary overlapping.now,my problem is how to determine the radius for probe, coax, coax pin and the height for coax.Other then, how much should the size for airbox.tq

The distance between the Radiation boundary and the object from which the radiation emanates is no less than quarter wavelength.

Right or double clik on the button of the object on the left of HFSS's board and defind the parameters.
The size of airbox should be 5 times higher comparing with the object.

you sould read the book HFSS full.
The book is not full enough. Is there any book on Field Calculator? HFSS's help document lackls of examples.
