bluetooth transceiver thesis

hello everyone:

as we known, NOKIA uses the high-IF receiver architecture, ERICSSON uses the low-IF eopology.
I want to kwown : what are the difficulties of using the zero-IF eopology? Can the zero-IF receiver be made with the CMOS RF technology?
looking up for your reply! thanks!

transceiver architecture of bluetooth

hi

see this thesis

High-IF receiver needs High-Q filter for image rejection, so it isn't integratible. Image rejection function of Low-IF and Zero-IF receiver is done in baseband, so no High-Q filters needed. So Low-IF and Zero-IF architecture is suit for integration with CMOS technology. For same application, Zero-IF receiver needs lower noise figure than Low-IF because of the 1/f noise contribution.
