Bi-CMOS or CMOS layout - how?

bicmos layout

Learning layout. question:

How to know one layout is CMOS, another one is BiCMOS?

If I place a bipolar trtansistor on my CMOS layout, can I call this layout is BiCMOS layout?
 

What are basic layers for BiCMOS?

What is advantages of BiCMOS technology? Is it suitable for RFIC design?

You will find a book named"analog bicmos design practices and pitfalls" in book zone. It may help you.
 

Bicmos uses all of the same steps as cmos.some additional masks are inserted at opportune points in the process of cmos.Bicmos process is suitable for analog and digital design.

There can be many variations of the different layers at a Fab. Different Vt's etc.. Read design rule documentation
 

The bicmos ia better tha pure cmos for rf design because :
1). bic has high gm than cmos
2). bicmos has less noise
3). the modeling of bicmos has good physical meaning than cmos and more easy to predict the device heavior.

But bicmos has the limitation to shorten the cahannel to uncrease the ft.
the ft of 035um bcmos is ~30ghz.
