Best text for Electronics Course (transistors, etc)

I am currently using Microelectronics by sedra and smith. I don't really like the book too much...

What is a good BEGINNER's text for learning electronics?

- The Art of Electronics, Horowitz, Hill, search right on this site, but be patient, it's huge.
- Introduction to Electronics, Bob Zulinski, free ebook, on internet, search with keyword "elint 2.0", "bob zulinski", very compact and helpful.
- "Electrical Circuits", 6 volumes, free ebook, on internet, very helpful with good illustrations, for both electrics and electronics, but you can pick out which volume to download.

For more of a practical knowkwdge 'Art of Electronics' by Horowitz.
For more of a complete in-depth knowledge I would still recommend Sedra Smith.

Most Importantly with any book : 'be patient'

I am more into practical knowledge. I do not plan on designing amplifiers as my future career.

My course requires Sedra and Smith. But, I will use "The Art of Electronics" as an addition. Thanks for everyone's input!

yea its true.......begninig electronics from sedra and smith is tough.....but its the ultimate that u need to master when u finish your course. better take a look at electronic devices by malvino.........its easy and if u r looking for animation explanation how these circuits work then take a look at www.malvino.com

hambley electronics ebook

I have Boylestad's 10th edition and I have never liked this book. I also have paynter fifth edition. If I were to compare the two, I would have to say the paynter book is 10 times better. The chapters aren't 125 pages long and it didn't stress me out nearly as much as the Boylestad edition that was necessary for the course.

The best book to learn about electronicsss would be ELECTRONICS by HAMBLEY.... its a very good book in terms of learning circuit design konceptsss ... actualy a more simpler version of sedra and smith.....
