capacitor basics
Inductor stores energy in Magnetic field and capacitor in the electric field.
There is called constant flux theorem which states that flux can't be changed instantaneously.
in case of inductor the magnetic flux can't be changed instantaneously, which lead to current can't be changed
instantaneously. so inductor should not be open when current is flowing. if u open the voltage across will become very, because the change is current is more at that time ( di/dt is very high). This is called inductor kick. the current in the inductor should be zero on average, otherwise the magentic core of the inductor will saturate and it cannot hold the energy in the magnetic field. It loses the value of its inductance, so it wont limit the current , eventually inductor will be damaged.
in the case of capacitor, because of constant flux, the voltage canot be changed instataneously. In real worl we have the voltage supplies of constant nature. so there wont be any problem with capcitor like inductor.
