In fabrication we wont use Ge as it give high leakage current due to low band gap..how band gap and leakage current interrelated..?

bandgap is the energy gap between the valence band and the conduction band.... low bandgap means more possibility for the thermally generated electrons jumping to the conduction band which contributes to more leakage current and other noise effects.,....

as temperature increases more carriers are generated and they then gaet enough energy to cross the band gap hence leakage current is increased
