[SOLVED] Average value of current with both AC and DC component

Consider a current is made up of both AC and DC component. It has 10 A DC and a sinusoidal peak value of 1.414 A.

What is the average value of the resultant current?

The Choices are

a) Zero
b) 24.14 A
c) 10 A
d) 14.14 A

Could someone help on this? Thank You.

AC(rms)+DC = 1+10 =11 A... Hey, that doesn't suit the choices.. sorry for not including the choices while creating the post.

Also AC(avg) + DC = (0.637*1.414) + 10 = 10.9 A ... this also doesnt :-(
 

When I went to school, 1.4 A peak = 1A RMS and .9 A mean (just the average of the sine wave over a 1/2 cycle). So over one 1/2 cycle the current is 9.1 A and over the next 1/2 cycle its 10.9, so the average over a complete cycle is 10A .

Imagine a graph of time vs current.

Start with just a straight line at 10A. Now imagine, or draw, the 2.828 pk to pk (or any other value for that matter so long as it's less than 20A pk to pk) component on the straight line, symetrically disposed about it.

It should be quite clear that the average is 10A.

So I finally conclude the average value as 10 A.
The sine wave constitutes an average value of 0 (avg value turns out to zero over a full cycle) and only the DC constitute the average value.
