automated room controller

hai peoples i am doing a small mini project in automated light system for a single room. i will be using ir or a laser module for the transmission use.. can anyone tel post me a perfect working circuit diagram for it. and some procedure for doing it. and explanation of the process what is happening in it.. it would be so helpfull if u helped me with my carrer..

your post doesn't really explain what want the circuit to do.
under what conditions are lights supposed to come on ?
under what conditions are they supposed to turn off ?
what exactly is the ir or laser module for ?

Well i want to use ir or laser transmiter and recieve to sense the person enterng and leavin. With this power to that room should be controlled..
