Audio playback using pic

Hi,
I want to store a small audio file and playback it on loop continuously.
I have the following questions in my mind.
1)Is it possible to connect a speaker directly to pic or do i need an digital to analog convertor?
2)Which audio format suits for this?
3)Which model of PIC should be used?
Thanking you in advance.

Audio playback using pic

You can find the example project to generate Tone in CCS compiler Driver files..
i have attached that code with this Post

you can directly connect Speakers to PIC which will produce Tone for you... be careful in selecting correct Ohm(6 0r 8) Speakers...

else you can use some external Voice storage device like APR9600 or ISD5100... you can store and retrieve the Audio by controlling through Microcontrollers...

But i dont have any idea on storing Audio and retrieving from PIC Microcontroller
