ATmega8L - isp programming problem

programming atmega8l

I got a Fresh Lot of ATMEGA8L-8AU , in which i tried to programme through ISP by universal programmer ELNEC - SMART PROG.

I am getting " Device Syncronization Error"

Out of 1000 Nos. i was able to programme 150 nos. , alance 850 are giving the same above problem.

I tried to do with STK500 MKII, there is also it is giving error message.

Any suggestion to erase and programme them.

which program are you using? I suggest Avrdude evn to set sck freq (al least with the stk200v2)
